Important

Router setup

Using a router is much more complicated than using the 12VPX app on a computer or phone. Support is limited to the 12VPX app. We cannot help you set up your router or fix router issues.

Bandwidth

A router sends all connected devices through the VPN. That uses more of your 12VPX (Elite) bandwidth than connecting a single device with the app.

Performance

A router puts every device on the same VPN server. Performance is often worse than connecting each device separately to its own server.

OpenWRT

OpenWRT is an aftermarket firmware available for many Wi-Fi routers.

Tips & Tricks

Disable automatic mobile data switching

Phones may automatically switch from Wi-Fi to 4G/5G when the Wi-Fi connection is weak, bypassing your VPN router.

Disable this feature while using the router. Depending on your phone, it may be called Connectivity Assist, Wi-Fi Assist, Adaptive Connectivity, Switch to mobile data, Smart Network Switch, or something similar.
